School - Upper School Subjects
Economics D304 studies the most important aspects of economic activities. Through the study of economics, students gain understanding of the topical issues of inflation, unemployment and the Stock Market. Students are taken through the core economic concepts and then asked to apply their knowledge to the current Australian and International situation.
The TEE Economics course is a comprehensive introduction to higher study in the commercial area. In addition, it helps to develop in students the ability to make informed decisions about issues that are at the very core of modern Australian society.
The Year 11 syllabus consists of a basic core section covering the main economic concepts plus the following options:-
• The Stock Market
• Australian Market Forms
• Labour Economics
“Why Workplace Agreements?”
“How will the cost of oil affect me?”
These and other questions might be answered in this highly topical course. It is related to events in the Australian economy which are the subject of widespread community interest.
Macro-Economics explains the mysteries of aggregate demand, inflation, unemployment and economic growth. International Trade explores Australia’s balance of payments, foreign debt and exchange rates. Government Economic Policies considers how the government attempts to manage the economy through its budgets, interest rates and reforms.
Year 11 – D304
Prerequisite: Working at Level 5 or 6 in some S&E Outcomes in Year 10.
Homework / Home Study Requirements: A minimum of 3 hours per week.
Year 12 – E304
Prerequisite: It is recommended that Year 12 students have successfully completed the Year 11 course.
Homework / Home Study Requirements: A minimum of 3 hours per week.
