Geography 12

School - Upper School Subjects

The aim of the course is to develop a student's understanding of the physical and human components of the environment.  The course is based on Australia, with a special emphasis on the South West.  Practical skills are further developed during the course.

Some students may wish to select the subject only in Year 12, but they must realise it will require extra work to make up for knowledge and skills missed in Year 11.
The main study areas of the course are:-
  • Landscapes and Land Use - Australia
  • Settlement Patterns
  • Urban Australia (using Perth as an example)
  • Mapping and Practical Skills
Students are required to undertake three excursions.
The TEE paper in Geography is made up of a multiple choice section, a short answer section and three extended answer questions (based on study areas 1, 2 and 3 above).

Year 12 – E305

Prerequisite:  It is preferable to have done Year 11 Geography.

Homework / Home Study Requirements:  A minimum of 3 hours per week.
