School - Upper School Subjects
History is an attempt to interpret the past in order to gain insight into the present. Using evidence from multi-media, cartoons, documents and text material students will build strong communication and interpretive skills. These skills are of great value in developing independent learning and research skills which are essential in all field of tertiary education.- Unit 1 “The Shaping of a Nation: Australia in the Twentieth Century”. It covers from Federation in 1901 to 1945 and includes how wars, economic changes and foreign influences have developed Australian society.
- Unit 2 "Revolutions" investigates the Russian Revolution and its aftermath from 1917 – 1941. How did Russia transform itself from a chaotic peasant state to a world superpower under the banner of Communism?
Year 12 – E306
Prerequisite: This subject may be selected by students who have not done Year 11 History. You will need strong analytical and writing skills to be successful.
Homework / Home Study Requirements: A minimum of 3 hours per week
