Human Biology 12

School - Upper School Subjects

Human Biology examines the way the human body responds to environmental change, the genetics of human populations, the evolutionary history of the human species and human ecology.  In each area of study students will cover content important to a general understanding of major ideas and issues in Human Biology.  Students will be involved in laboratory investigations and they will be expected to achieve some degree of expertise in the process skills associated with science.

This subject is suitable for anyone wishing to develop an understanding of the regulation and control of human body function and the history of the human species.  It is also useful for students who intend studying science, physical education, nursing or other related subjects at tertiary level.

Note:  It is not advisable to enrol in both Year 12 Biology and Year 12 Human Biology, as only the best mark is used for the TEE.

Year 12 – E406

Prerequisites:  Students should have studied Human Biology at the Year 11 level and achieved an A, B or C grade.  Any other students should consult with a staff member before being enrolled in this subject at Year 12 level.

Homework / Home Study Requirements:  A minimum of 3 hours per week.
