Introductory Calculus 11

School - Upper School Subjects

Introductory Calculus provides an introduction to the derivative and the integral and their uses.  These tools can be used to solve many problems facing mankind today in economics, medicine, management practices and sciences.

Desirable background is a sound knowledge of the material Year 10 Pathway 1.

Students who successfully complete Introductory Calculus can proceed to the following Year 12 level courses:-

  • Calculus (assuming successful completion of Geometry and Trigonometry)
  • Applicable Mathematics
Introductory Calculus will be of great value to students proceeding to tertiary studies in courses which make some use of calculus, even if those students do not take the Year 12 Calculus course.

 

Year 11 – D505

Prerequisite:  Level 6 in Algebra and Measurement Strands in Year 10.

Homework / Home Study Requirements:  A minimum of 3 hours per week.
