School - Upper School Subjects

Students will explore a range of media in these courses.  They range from traditional forms such as film, photography, newspapers, magazines, comics, radio and television to new and emerging multimedia technologies.  The students will view, listen, read, research analyse and discuss media, considering how people, events and issues are represented.  

In Semester 1 Year 11 specifically looks at popular culture such as video clips, reality television, tabloid press, and non-narrative forms.  The Press and Broadcasting is Semester 2’s focus.

Year 12 Students begin the year with a look at various Media art forms such as cult and independent films, non-realist narratives and photographic art.  Semester 2 is an in depth look at documentary styles and traditions, and the use of images and power.

These courses are suitable for anyone considering the impact of the media in our lives, but specifically for those interested in a career in Journalism, Marketing, Film Production, Acting, Publishing, Public Relations and Business Management.

Courses contribute towards both TAFE and university admission.
