School - Upper School Subjects

The Physical Education Course of Study is a challenging and interesting course which is open to all students who enjoy physical activity.  This new course of study provides students with an exciting opportunity to further their skills in Physical Education as well as introducing more complex content to prepare them for further studies in the field.  The outcomes which will be covered are:

• Outcome 1:   Physical Activity Skills – a range of fitness skills and sports
• Outcome 2:   Self Management and Interpersonal Skills for Physical Activity
• Outcome 3:   Knowledge and Understandings for Physical Activity
• Outcome 4:   Values and Attitudes for Physical Activity

Unit 1APES: The focus for this unit is the process of building personal profiles. Within this broad focus, teachers select learning contexts that tap into their students’ interests and build upon their acquired understanding about participation in physical activity.

Unit 1BPES: The focus for this unit is extending personal profiles. Within this broad focus, teachers select learning contexts that enable students to extend the depth and breadth of their knowledge of participation patterns in physical activity.

Unit 2APES: The focus for this unit is exploring personal potential in relation to participation in physical activity. Within this broad focus, teachers select learning contexts that enable students to engage in the enhancement of participation from the various perspectives in the three content areas.

Unit 2BPES: The focus for this unit is realising personal potential. Within this broad focus, teachers select learning contexts that build upon students’ acquired understanding about ways and means of enhancing specific aspects of their participation in physical activity.

Year 11 – 1APES / 1BPES
Year 12 – 2APES / 2BPES

Prerequisite:  Level 5 in most Phys Ed strands in Year 10.

All students are required to purchase a Text Book. Details will be available in the booklist.
