School - Upper School Subjects
All people observe the world around them and "wonder why". Physics is a subject which tries to explain these observations. It does this through experiment, measurement, language and mathematics.The syllabus endeavours to teach Physics through examples from contexts. All through the course, teachers and students will be selecting examples to make the subject relevant. For example, light and the eye, heat and the human body, ionising radiation and the human body, movement and sport, domestic electricity and electricity and life.
The Physics 11 syllabus consists of 2 units:
1. UNIT 1.0 ENERGY IN EVERYDAY LIFE
Areas to be covered:
1.1 Sight and Light
1.2 Heating and Cooling
1.3 Nuclear Technology
2. UNIT 2.0 MOVEMENT AND ELECTRICITY
Areas to be covered:
2.1 Movement
2.2 Electricity
Year 11 – D409
Prerequisite: Level 5 or 6 in Energy and Change outcome in Year 10.
Homework / Home Study Requirements: A minimum of 3 hours per week.
