School - Upper School Subjects
This is an exciting course that encompasses a range of visual art forms. In Year 11 four projects are completed in various studio disciplines – In Year 12, there are three projects. The course contains a moderate amount of art appreciation and history which directly relates to the studio tasks. Students are encouraged to exhibit and display their work in a final exhibition held on completion of the course in term 4.
Organisation, communication through drawing, solving visual arts problems, using personal responses to create an artwork, using visual arts techniques and processes, appreciation of the role of artists and designers and producing finished artworks for exhibition are all skills developed by studying this course.
Art and Design gives the basis for appreciation and understanding of art. It is ideal for students who love art and wish to continue their studies in this field through TAFE. It is suitable for students who are very academic as well as those whose interest is more casual. Independent learning is promoted through creative expression.
Studying both Visual Arts - Art and Art and Design in Year 11 and 12 can assist students in reaching a higher level in both subjects.
Year 11 – D631
Year 12 – E631
Desirable: Art and Craft in Years 8, 9 and 10.
