AIMS:
The aims of the Health and Physical Education Department are for students
- Know and understand health and physical activity concepts that enable informed decisions for a healthy lifestyle.
- Demonstrate the interpretation skills necessary for effective relationships and healthy active lifestyles.
- Demonstrate self management skills which enable them to make informed decisions for healthy active lifestyles.
- Demonstrate the movement skills and strategies for confident participation in physical activity.
COURSE CONTENT
- The Physical Education course at Busselton SHS offers the sports of Aquatics, Soccer, Netball, Volleyball, Athletics, Hockey, Touch, Softball, Football, Basketball, Triathlon, Badminton, Tennis.
- Outdoor Education includes abseiling , canoeing, navigation and marine
- Recreation includes squash, golf, archery and weights.

The facilities at Busselton SHS are second to none including:
- Double sized gymnasium
- Weight room
- Climbing wall
- 4 Tennis Courts
- 4 Outdoor Basketball courts
- 4 Beach Volleyball courts
- 25 metre swimming pool
- Extensive reticulated oval

Busselton SHS Physical Education Department has an extensive Interschool Program involving and other South West Senior High Schools. The sports include:

- Busselton SHS also holds its very unique and very Beach Carnival.
What is Health and Physical Education about?
Health and Physical Education provides opportunities for students to develop lifelong understandings of health issues and the skills needed for confident participation in sport and recreational activities. This enables students to make responsible decisions about health and physical activity and to promote their own and others’ health and well-being.Why teach Health and Physical Education?
Teaching Health and Physical Education provides students with opportunities to:- enhance lifelong attitudes to health and fitness
- enjoy physical activity and develop relevant skills
- identify values and attitudes and their effects on themselves and others
- recognise health issues for themselves and others in the community and adopt appropriate change
- enhance personal development
- identify cultural differences and their impact
- acquire foundation knowledge and skills essential for success within the Health and Physical Education learning area and for further study.
