The “School Education Act 1999” requires the compulsory-aged students attend school , or participate in a registered education program, for the days on which school is open for instruction.
As a parent or carer it is your responsibility to develop and maintain regular patterns of attendance for your child/ren. It is crucial that they attend school on all school days and that they are on time every day.
It is important that you:
Provide the school with an explanation within 3 days of an absence
(SMS 0427 016 224, phone 9754 9333, fax 9752 1202 or note) stating child’s name, year and reason for absence;
Contact the school for support if you are having difficulty getting your student to school;
Where possible arrange doctor and dentist appointments out of school hours;
Arrange personal trips out of school hours;
Do not allow your student to stay home for minor reasons.
If the reason is related to continued poor health the Principal can request the parent or carer provides a doctor’s certificate.
If you do not do this, letters requesting this information will be sent home. Should you fail to respond to letters requesting this information there is no option but for the matter to be forwarded to the “Retention and Participation Officer”.
